Jenn Thom is our first Monthly Motivator of 2020! We love having Jenn in our fitness community. She comes to class with a positive attitude and great big smile. We asked Jenn to tell us was what the Village Spin community means to her.
Village Spin is like a family. Everyone is full of support and new ideas. Some people you see regularly and some once in a while, but they still feel like family. The camaraderie is what keeps me coming back. No one judges you and the only one you compete against is yourself. Everyone is super supportive. This is my village and I am proud to be a village person! My favorite class is TRX. I love the strength building. I like thinking about what I can do now compared to when I started. The funniest thing that has happened in class is when Jen Cardone wanted us to push-up to puke, instead of push-up to pike, during TRX class. There are lots of motivational lines, but i like when we asked "did you die?", lol. I also like when the instructors tell us they believe in us and our ability to get through it.

Our mission is to help build a healthy community through social fitness. Our flexible schedule and diverse class formats, along with innovative and passionate instructors allow us to provide classes for youth, adult, and actively aging members of our community. We understand that there are people who are unable to attend our class offerings due to the demands of work, school, family, and LIFE. Some people just may not feel comfortable in a group setting and others may need a more tailored workout due to injuries or some other limitation. We are also aware of the growing need and desire of athletes for more sports conditioning and training opportunities. For these reasons, we are excited to announce the expansion of our personal training services. Jenifer Cardone is a certified personal trainer, with an extensive list of group fitness and wellness certifications. She is a staple in the Village Spin community as well as the Medina Mustang community! Jenifer is a lifelong athlete, competing in horseback riding and polo. She was also a competitive collegiate tennis player. Along with her own history of sports, Jen has three children that have been heavily involved in sports. It makes complete sense that Jen wants to help other athletes reach their greatest potential. If you are an athlete, young or adult, that would like to work on sport-specific training to improve your performance or reduce your chances of injury, this type of training is for you. She's been part of the Village Spin family for about two years. Take a moment and listen to her tell her story of recovering from a massive heart attack. Unfortunately this story is not unique or unheard of. In fact, most of us probably know someone who has had a heart attack or someone we know will have a heart attack. What are the signs? What do you do if you think you (or someone you know) is having a heart attack? What can you do to reduce your chances of having a heart attack? With the expansion of our team, and our diverse backgrounds we are ready to add a few new things to the Village Spin experience. We are excited to introduce Barre classes to the studio, beginning November. Barre workout is a hybrid of ballet inspired moves with components of pilates, dance, yoga, and strength training. It is a low impact class, focusing on isometric moves that hold the body still while contracting specific muslce groups. Barre class is a full body workout that can be modified for all exerience and fitness levels, but will still challenge every bit of your strength, stability, flexibility, and metabolic training abilities.
Jenifer Cardone and I will be introducing Barre classes in November. We are both certified in Barre and can't wait to get classes rolling. We've been taking Barre (combos) classes at some studios around Western New York. We are both very excited to continue building our experience/exposure with barre at our up coming collaboration with Garage Fitness Studio, October 27th at 10 am. To start, we are adding barre to two new combo classes. Jenifer will be launching the BarreX class. BarreX is a one-two knock out combination class. Building strength, mobility, flexibility, and metabolic endurance through the use of resistance training on TRX suspension traps and the use of functional strength training moves on the mats. I will be kicking off the BOSU & Barre Combo. This class will be a mix of bootcamp style moves on BOSU balls with isometric training using Barre moves. Our muscles will have a little shake to them for sure! As we move into winter, we will add a full hour class, Barre None. |
